Once a month, I interview founding members and ask them about their work, their writing life, and their business of it all together. These are the people who backed Writion early, who shaped it with their feedback, and who make it what it is. They are, quietly, the whole point.
Meet our founding members
A new conversation each month with a writer who made Writion their own.
Founding member
Vanessa Jane Townsend
Our first founding-member conversation — on her writing life, her work, and finding a home for the business side of it all. Read Vanessa's story here
Febriani (Feby) Idrus If you are a writer that makes a living out of your writing, then you will enjoy reading about Feby's writing life. She is busy with Substack, writing for the NZSO, book reviews and so much more! Read Feby's story here
Vicki Price Vicki has written several feature articles for magazines and newspapers, with a special interest in history. However due to health issues writing had to take a backseat for a while. We love that Vicki is returning to her writing life. Read Vicki's story here
A new founding member is featured every month. The September and October conversations are on their way — come back and meet them.
Why we built a directory for New Zealand writers
A writing career is not a solo endeavour, however solitary the writing itself can feel. Writion's industry directory exists so that Kiwi writers can find the vetted local professionals — editors, proofreaders, designers, illustrators, printers, booksellers — who help turn a manuscript into a book, and a book into a career.
Community is not a feature we bolted on. It is a large part of the reason a tool like this earns a place in a writer's working life: not just to organise the work, but to connect the people doing it. More on the thinking behind the directory soon.
A note on privacy and consent. Every writer profiled here has given their enthusiastic consent to be named and to share what they have chosen to share. The same principle that runs through Writion — that your information is yours — runs through this series. No one appears here who did not choose to, and nothing is shared that they did not agree to.
About Writion. Writion is a writing business management platform built for professional writers in New Zealand and Australia — the one place where both the commercial work and the creative work live. Founded by author Gaye Miller. Writion records only business-layer information; it never reads or stores a writer's manuscript.
